As I was getting my 8 year old son ready for "story time" and then bed the other night he turned to me and said: "Dad... thanks for the Salt Lamp, I really like it."
I really hadn't given much thought to how he felt about having a Salt Lamp in his room next to his bed. We put a Sphere shaped one there 4 years ago when we were doing a photo shoot for our Salt Lamp website and just left it on his nightstand because we thought it looked nice.

When I asked him why he was just mentioning it now, he told me that he had done a sleepover at a friends house who had a "kids" night light and it made him realize how cool it was to have something so unique and natural instead of a piece of plastic.
He also said they have been learning about sustainability at school and he likes that his Salt Lamp is 250,000,000 years old and a piece of the Earth instead of something mass produced that will ultimately be thrown away. I love that he is "thinking Green" and concerned with the world and his impact on it at such a young age.
The conversation made me realize that I hadn't spent enough time suggesting these Salt Lamps as great for a Kid's room as they are not too bright, they have a warm coral colored glow and are thought to clear the air through the release of Negative Ions.
So many people that contact us are asking questions about the Health aspects of Salt Lamps and how they might help Asthma, Emphysema and Allergies. I really don't like that this is h0w the Salt Lamp companies feel they need to push their products. It should be more about how beautiful they are, how unique they are (no two salt Lamps can ever be the same... just like humans and snowflakes), and how they make you feel on an emotional level as they are so soothing to look at.
